Donate to our work
We’ve become quite bold at asking institutions for money to fund our program over the years. We are proud that we’ve received funding from the Arts Council, The DeHaan Charitable Foundation, Creative Folkestone, Folkestone Town Council, and FHDC Councillors to bring together fantastic programs of events over the years for Folkestone.
At the heart of Take Up Space and The Folkestone Wome’s Forum is community & collaboration. And to this we’ve always been committed, not just to paying our local women artists to lead workshops and other activities, but to making these workshops and events free for women in Folkestone to come to.
The landscape of the economy has dramatically changed over the last few years. Every cost has gone up, and the availability of funding for projects and events in the arts has decreased.
Despite this, we still strongly believe that women coming together to hear one another’s stories, to experience new perspectives, to be inspired, to get involved and to hear women’s stories, to laugh , to learn, to move, to expand our horizons, in solidarity sisterhood, should not have a financial barrier.
What use is a festival for women in Folkestone if not every woman in Folkestone has an equal opportunity to benefit?
We want to keep as many of our Take Up Space and Folkestone Women’s Forum events free to attend and have subsidised tickets for the ones that aren't. So we are asking those who can to support our efforts to make all our events accessible.
